The Sysadmin Desk is three things: The Sysadmin Desk Brief, a Monday email on what changed for hybrid Microsoft admins and what to do about it; a few free admin tools; and hands-on guides to problems I have actually solved.

I'm Attila, an IT operations lead based in Hungary. My day-to-day is a mix of Windows and Mac endpoints, server administration, scripting, hybrid Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, VMware, Cisco gear, and whatever else breaks next. That mix is who the brief is for: the generalist who looks after on-premises servers and the cloud tenant at the same time.

How the brief is made

Each issue starts from public sources only:

• the MSRC Security Update Guide (Patch Tuesday CVEs, severity, exploitation status),
• the CISA Known Exploited Vulnerabilities catalog (exploited flaws from every vendor),
• Windows release health (known issues and workarounds),
• the Microsoft 365 Roadmap, and
• the Intune and Microsoft Entra "What's new" pages.

Every Sunday, scripts collect those sources and compare them with the previous week, so each issue starts from a list of what actually changed. An AI model (Claude) turns that list into a first draft, and it may only use the facts it is handed: every item cites the record it came from, and links and identifiers such as CVE and KB numbers are filled in from the data, not written by the model. A second model from another company (OpenAI) checks the draft against the same facts, and every link is tested.

Then I read the whole issue, fix what needs fixing, and write the "My take" section myself; no AI drafts that part. Nothing is sent automatically. If a mistake still gets through, the correction goes at the top of the next issue.

Nothing in the brief comes from my employer's systems or tenant.

Every guide comes from a real problem I solved in a real environment: no theoretical setups, no copy-pasted docs. English isn't my first language, so I use AI to help me write clearly, but the problems, the context and the solutions are my own.
