About
Welcome to The Sysadmin Desk — a blog about the practical, often undocumented side of running modern IT infrastructure.
I'm Attila, an IT operations lead based in Hungary. My day-to-day is a mix of Windows and Mac endpoints, server administration, scripting, hybrid Active Directory, Microsoft 365, Intune, VMware, Cisco gear, and whatever else breaks next. This blog is where I write up the problems I actually solve at work — the kind of issues that have either zero documentation or only stale 2018-era posts referencing modules that don't exist anymore.
What you'll find here
Posts focused on real, in-the-trenches IT operations:
- Windows and Mac endpoint management and troubleshooting
- Server administration and automation with PowerShell
- Hybrid Active Directory, Entra ID, and Microsoft 365
- Intune, endpoint security, and device compliance
- Networking, VPN, and the weird interactions between vendors
- VMware, Cisco, and anything else that lands on my desk
Every post comes from a real problem I solved in a real environment — no theoretical setups, no copy-pasted docs. English isn't my first language, so I use AI to help me write clearly, but the problems, the context, and the solutions are entirely my own.
Why this blog exists
Most of the technical problems I run into either have no clear answer online or have answers buried in a 47-comment thread on a forum from six years ago. When I finally figure it out, I write it up here so the next person who hits the same problem at 3 AM finds something useful.
